WHO?
Vinarija Kopjar has quickly positioned itself at the forefront of the Croatian wine scene. The vineyards, planted in 2005, are fully maintained according to ecological practices, while owner Mr. Robert Kopjar became involved in the project in 2012. In this regime, the human labor input is significantly higher, and vine protection is more demanding, but the end result is exceptionally high-quality grapes that produce authentic, complex wines with a pronounced sense of terroir.
WHERE?
Located on the edge of the Varaždin County, bordering the Krapina-Zagorje County in the village of Pece, the vineyards (with southern and southeastern exposures at 250-260 meters above sea level) and the winery cover about 4.5 hectares of their own plantings, with approximately 22,000 vines, predominantly of white varieties. Yield reduction (green harvesting) is a regular practice, and most wines are aged on fine lees in stainless steel or large oak barrels.
WHY?
Wine purists perceive the rosé version of the noblest black grape variety as the apotheosis of its delicate character and subtle presence on the palate. It boasts pronounced aromas of red fruits such as pomegranate, watermelon, strawberry, and cranberry. On the palate, it offers pleasant freshness and lively notes of peach, raspberry, and red currant. The perfect balance of acidity, minerality, and minimal residual sugar, which serves not to create false body but to accentuate the aroma and complete the entire composition.
