WHO?
Vincent Mongeard and his wife Anne are the eighth generation wine stewards at Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret, one of the most distinguished estates in Burgundy. Vincent harbors an exceptionally passionate relationship with Pinot Noir, while his approach to the vineyard is insightful and pragmatic. They have adopted many organic and biodynamic farming principles, but they view each parcel as a separate small ecosystem.
WHERE?
The estate is located in the village of Vosne-Romanée, in the heart of the Côtes de Nuits subregion. The vineyards in Nuits-St-Georges consist mainly of valleys and gentle hills, but in the case of the subzone ‘Les Plateaux’ (as the name suggests), it is a flat surface. Wines from the “Nuits” appellation are among the most robust, full-bodied, and firmly tannic (within the discipline called Pinot Noir) of all Côtes-de-Nuits wines.
WHY?
Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret wines are exceptional and exhibit all the classic traits of graceful aromatics, intensity, and elegance on the palate, as well as captivating tannic structure. One of the most seductive aspects of these wines is the finely precise use of oak and its balance with the fruity component. They typically reach their peak condition 4-5 years after bottling but can last for a whole decade.
