WHO?
Orben is an exciting estate located in Rioja Alavesa, established with the aim of producing single vineyard wines that can stand alongside the most eminent names from Rioja. The Anton family owns 75% of the estate, while the remaining 25% is divided among 50 top Spanish restaurants – friends of the family who share a common love for fine food and wines.
WHERE?
The vineyards benefit from the advantages of cold oceanic winds blowing from the Atlantic, allowing the grapes to retain essential acidity, which is a crucial factor in hot climates. This area has the highest percentage of old vines in Rioja (planted between 1945 and 1954). The bush-trained vineyards are planted on a combination of limestone and clay at an altitude of 550 meters.
WHY?
It is intensely brick-red in color. Very expressive on the nose, it opens up towards wild berry fruit, gradually revealing a beautiful amalgam of balsamic notes of vanilla and milk caramel. Full-bodied on the palate with all structural components in wonderful balance. Impressive layers and persistence on the palate leading to a mineral finish.
