WHO?
Crystallum is a small winery located in Hemel-en-Aarde, founded in 2007 by brothers Peter-Allan and Andrew Finlayson. Today, Crystallum is one of the most respected wineries in South Africa and a leader in the “New Wave” movement.
WHERE?
Peter and Max are the names of the growers who provided the fruit for the first vintage of this wine. The Pinot Noir grapes for Peter Max are sourced from five vineyards situated in the coastal area of Hemel-en-Aarde, as well as from a new high-altitude site inland.
WHY?
A dry, hot season resulted in above-average yields, as expected due to the second consecutive very dry season. However, cold nights during vegetation and the absence of significant heat waves during harvest partially mitigated the effects of dry conditions. The vines were healthy and produced concentrated, small clusters.
