He purchased the estate covering 20 hectares and, together with his son G\u00e9rard, breathed new life into it. Their first vintage was released in 1985. Today, the grandson of Jean Louis and owner of prestigious wineries such as Charles Heidsieck, Piper-Heidsieck, and Biondi-Santi, leads the estate alongside Valentine Tardieu-Vitali as the head winemaker who joined the team in 2017. The estate currently has 56 hectares under cultivation.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>WHERE? <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Ch\u00e2teau La Verrerie is located in the Luberon appellation, on the border with the Luberon National Park and the C\u00f4tes du Rh\u00f4ne appellations to the north, and the C\u00f4tes de Provence to the south. Of the total 56 hectares under cultivation, 70% are dedicated to the production of reds, 20% to ros\u00e9s, and 10% to white wines. Among the red varieties, Grenache accounts for half of the area, 40% is Syrah, and 10% is shared between Cinsault and Carignan. The soil is predominantly clay and limestone. Since the 2013 harvest, the vineyards have been entirely under organic management.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>WHY? <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The grapes for this Ros\u00e9 are harvested at night (to ensure they are as cool as possible, thus preserving all the delicacy of the fruit and retaining the desired shade of color) using mechanization and then undergo manual selection upon arrival at the winery. It is of a classic Proven\u00e7al style and pale pink in color. On the nose, rose petals, almonds, and citrus fruit dominate. On the palate, notes of red currant and grapefruit come to the forefront, accompanied by intertwining acids that lend incredible elegance to the entire structure.
