Edoardo and his wife Angela continued to nurture their vineyards even during the Prohibition era when only a few hundred operating wineries remained. Under the leadership of Ted Seghesio, representing the fourth generation in the family, the winery has become renowned as a specialist in Zinfandel and Italian varietals.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>WHERE? <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Carefully selected grapes come from Home Ranch, River Road, Lone Oak, and San Lorenzo vineyards in Alexander Valley, and Cortina vineyard in Dry Creek Valley. Dedication in the vineyard (yield reduction, canopy management) is essential to ensure even ripening and obtain the best possible raw material.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>WHY? <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The stunning concentration of aromas achieved by Seghesio in their wines can be attributed to the age of their vineyards, some of which were planted back in 1895. A combination of generous black fruit and spicy tones inundates the first sniff. Wild raspberries and blackberries emerge on the palate wrapped in a structure of strong yet ripe tannins and brisk acidity.
