WHO?
The Boškinac Winery was built in 2000, and in the same year, a new vineyard was planted in the immediate vicinity of the winery, covering an area of 5 hectares. The winery’s mission is to contribute to the preservation of indigenous grape varieties for the island of Pag (such as the local Gegić) and to showcase the family winemaking tradition through top-quality wines. In addition to its wines, Boškinac is recognizable for its namesake hotel and restaurant, which, together with the winery, form a unique complex on the Adriatic and the first of its kind in Croatia.
WHERE?
Pag is a unique island, the longest on the Croatian coast, surrounded by the highest mountain in Croatia – Velebit – and the sea. Covered in stone and Mediterranean vegetation, a small part called Novalja Field forms a green oasis on the island where the vineyards of the Boškinac Winery are located. The microclimate is largely defined by unpredictable weather, abundant rainfall, and strong winds that bring large amounts of salt during the winter. Summers are hot and often dry, so these extreme conditions, combined with an uncompromising commitment to quality, create top-quality wines underscored by terroir.
WHY?
The flagship of the Boškinac cellar and one of the most successful Bordeaux blends in Croatia. It is produced from international varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, which the climate of Pag particularly favors and strongly influences. Dry, full-bodied, excellent structure, complex bouquet. Soft tannic texture, recognizable aromas of red currants. Very long and pleasant finish. One of the most impressive red wines in Croatia.
