WHO?
Bedalov Winery is truly a family winery. They independently handle all aspects of the work, from tending the vineyards to production and bottling of the wine. The personal involvement in the entire process and the desire for continuous quality is felt in their special approach to each bottle of wine. Viticulture is a particular passion within the family and has been nurtured for many years. Winemaker Jakša, along with his family, continues this long-standing passion to reinforce the importance of wine in everyday life and to preserve the land for future generations. Through family care and ecological production, every bottle is made from 100% estate-grown grapes and fully represents the authentic Dalmatian vineyard.
WHERE?
Bedalov Winery is located in Kaštel Kambelovac, near Split. Situated on the southern slopes of Kozjak, at an altitude of 400 meters and with a slope of 45%, the vineyard in the location of Kambelovski gaj is where the Bedalov family nurtures indigenous Dalmatian grape varieties. This location is ideal for organic grape cultivation due to its southern exposure, excellent ventilation, ideal temperatures, and prolonged sun exposure. The grapes in this ideal position are bathed in sunlight and sea salt carried by the wind. Through organic farming, the vineyard has become a self-regulating natural ecosystem that requires minimal human intervention and no additional inputs.
WHY?
Tribidrag could be seen as a kind of black version of Graševina in the context of the fact that it changes its name every 100 meters. Thus, you can find it under the name Crljenak Kaštelanski, Primitivo in neighboring Italy, Kratošija in Montenegro, and of course, Zinfandel in the USA. Castel Zinfandel is made from specially selected grapes that grew on wooden “takljice,” or wooden stakes. A small part of the vineyard, in specially sunny parts, is still planted using this ancient method. Due to the uniqueness of this grape, this limited selection is born. It is characterized by unmistakable Dalmatian provenance expressed through rusticity and intensity of flavor.
