WHO?
Since its establishment in 2003, Bodegas Vetus has been dedicated to preserving the essential regional character of Toro while bringing new concepts and adding new nuances to it. In 2003, the Antón family, known as Artevino, expanded into Toro, aware of the region’s future potential. After selecting different vineyards, they made the first harvest of Vetus, a wine designed to retain the essence of the region but with new nuances and goals. The success of the wine prompted them to establish an estate in the heart of the region and build a winery that opened in 2008.
WHERE?
Celsus comes from a very old, pre-phylloxera estate called Camparrón in Morales. Facing north-south and located at 700 meters above sea level, the vineyard is about 1.3 hectares with vines planted in sandy loam soil. These vines are cultivated using traditional agriculture, and the harvest is done by hand.
WHY?
After manual harvesting, a double selection process follows, and the grapes for Celsus are crushed to ferment in 3000-liter conical tanks. Malolactic fermentation then takes place in new French oak barrels, where the wine matures for 14 months. It is bottled without clarification or filtration.
