WHO?
Gabriëlskloof is a winery located near Bot River in the Overberg region, east of Cape Town. It was purchased in 2001 by Bernhard Heyns, who was seeking the ideal place for vine planting. The vineyards are maintained sustainably with the aim of transitioning to organic farming in the future.
WHERE?
Gabriëlskloof Winery is situated in the Bot River municipality, where southern winds from the nearby Atlantic Ocean create a mesoclimate perfectly suited to low-yield vineyards. The farm features diverse soil types.
WHY?
The 2020 harvest brought a welcome change after prolonged drought in the region. Favorable yet healthy growth conditions marked this year. Harvest commenced approximately two weeks earlier than in previous years, and the cold conditions during harvesting resulted in fresh, refreshing wines.
