WHO?

Jochen Dreissigacker has garnered considerable public attention both in his native Germany and beyond, receiving high praise wherever his wines are sold. Upon taking over the estate from his father, he replaced high-yielding Dornfelder vineyards with old Riesling vineyards in Geyseberg and ceased using conventional preparations in the vineyard. He spends three times more time in the vineyard than his colleagues, drastically changing the style (from semi-sweet and fruity to dry and mineral), resulting in the loss of more than 70% of his traditional customers and almost complete estrangement from his father.

WHERE?

Jochen’s approach in the winery is simple: as little intervention in natural processes as possible. His 21 hectares of vineyards are located in Rheinhessen, which is currently undergoing a wine renaissance with Jochen at the helm. Low yields and careful selection in the vineyard ensure excellent grape quality. Of the total 21 hectares, 55% of the vineyards are planted with Riesling. The soil is a mixture of loess and loam.

WHY?

Jochen’s wines hold an organic certification, while his approach in the cellar is non-interventionist and as natural as possible. The opulent nose seduces with aromas of strawberries and spicy elements. On the palate, the silky texture is marked by velvety tannins and finely garnished with minerality – simply irresistible.
