WHO?
The wine heritage of the Legović family dates back to 1937. For four generations, the family of winemakers and vine growers, deeply rooted in the red soils of Istria, has been cultivating 12 hectares of vineyards. Today, Valter (formerly the chief oenologist at Agrolaguna) and his son Marko are fully dedicated to winemaking. They plant selected grape varieties from globally recognized regions, ensuring quality that has no alternative here.
WHERE?
In Western Istria, near the picturesque village of Kaštelir, lies Mekiši, an authentic old Istrian estate that is now the residence and cellar of the Legović family. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 220-250 meters on the famous Istrian red soil, rich in bauxite and high iron content, which imparts a strong mineral character to the wines. Here, the essence of the terroir is masterfully captured in every glass.
WHY?
Only in exceptional vintages, after strict selection of the best grapes from the oldest vines, is the Nobile line produced. In the 2015 vintage, just over 5000 bottles were filled, which, after spending 7 years in the cellar, are now being released to the market. This terroir-driven wine, both elegant and energetic, symbolizes Bordeaux pedigree in an Istrian guise. It offers a harmony of full flavors, deliciously ripe fruit, deep balsamic notes, and stony minerality. Undoubtedly, the best vintage to date.
