WHO?
The wine heritage of the Legović family dates back to 1937. For four generations, vine growers and winemakers deeply rooted in the Istrian terroir have been cultivating 12 hectares of vineyards. Today, Valter (formerly the chief oenologist at Agrolaguna) and his son Marko, by planting selected grape varieties from globally recognized regions, ensure quality that has no alternative here.
WHERE?
In Western Istria, not far from the picturesque village of Kaštelir, lies Mekiši, a true antique Istrian estate that is now the residence and cellar of the Legović family. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 220-250 meters on the famous Istrian red soil, rich in bauxite and high iron content, which imparts a strong mineral character to the wines. Here, the essence of the terroir is best expressed in the glass.
WHY?
As the name suggests, the Matura line denotes matured and aged wines. This Merlot comes from the Njive and Mekiši vineyards, and its inherent varietal softness is fantastically interpreted by the famous Istrian terra rossa. Aged for two years in large oak barrels, it boasts notes of dark berries (blackberries, blueberries) and forest fruits (wild strawberries) framed by discreet tones of vanilla and cedar.
