WHO?
The Rocca family hails from the heart of Barbaresco. After taking over the family winery, Bruno Rocca decided that all the wines they produce would be sold exclusively in bottles. Soon, he established himself as one of the top winemakers in Piedmont, largely due to the most esteemed position in Barbaresco, the legendary Rabajà vineyard. Stylistically, Bruno is an impeccable modernist whose wines demonstrate exceptional fruit intensity while maintaining the structure and elegance of the finest examples in the Langhe subregion.
WHERE?
The Rabajà cru holds a prestigious status in the Barbaresco appellation and has been owned by Bruno Rocca’s father, Francesco, since 1958. Rabajà is situated on steep slopes at 300 meters above sea level and is planted exclusively with Nebbiolo, facing southwest, with soils composed of a mixture of marl, limestone, and sandstone. The vines are on average 50-60 years old. Rabajà vineyard has always been considered one of the most esteemed sites in Barbaresco with significant aging potential.
WHY?
Bruno Rocca Barbaresco Rabajà is one of the most important wines in all of Piedmont. It’s a wine of exceptional structure, a prime example of Barbaresco that proves its aging potential—a perfect synthesis of Bruno Rocca’s winemaking philosophy, reflecting the union and symbiosis of vine and man. It’s in this mystical point that Nebbiolo reaches its maximum and full potential. A unique terroir whose intimate greatness manifests in the elusive character of this emblematic vineyard.
