WHO?
The estate was founded by Alberto Malesani, known in Italy as a former manager of famous football clubs, particularly Fiorentina and Parma, with the latter winning the UEFA Cup in 1999. His passion and intuition are now channeled into the winery, where winemaker Lorenzo Caramazza provides technical expertise as a consultant. Balance, concentration, and aromatic complexity are the Holy Trinity of Malesani’s winemaking philosophy, making La Giuvu one of the region’s rising stars.
WHERE?
The estate spans 10 hectares (of which only 5 are currently in production) in a cold locality called ‘Val Squaranto’, a small valley between Valpantena and Mezzane. The vineyards are planted at the top of the hill, at an altitude of 350-400 meters, which prolongs the harvest compared to most other positions in the hills east of Verona.
WHY?
An exceptionally compelling nose combines ethereal balsamic notes with extremely powerful fruit such as cherries and blueberries wrapped in a cloak of dark chocolate and sweet spices. The gargantuan presence on the palate is harmonized by penetrating acidity and velvety tannins, leaving the impression of a gentle giant. Designed for immediate hedonistic pleasures or carefree journey through time, this flagship of the rich Italian wine heritage is destined for special moments.
