WHO?
The Rocca family hails from Barbaresco itself. After taking over the family winery, Bruno Rocca decided that all the wines they produce would be sold exclusively as bottled wines. He soon established himself as one of the best winemakers in Piemonte, largely thanks to the most prestigious location in Barbaresco, the iconic Rabajà vineyard. Stylistically, Bruno is an impeccable modernist whose wines demonstrate extraordinary fruit intensity while maintaining the structure and elegance of the finest examples from the Langhe subregion.
WHERE?
Currently, the family owns 15 hectares of vineyards. The Nebbiolo grapes for this wine come from younger vines, particularly from the Neive, Cru San Cristoforo, Marcorino, and Fausoni locations. The soil originated during the Cenozoic era almost 70 million years ago and is rich in limestone and trace elements, making it ideal for growing Nebbiolo. The soil in the Neive vineyard is especially rich in sand and silt, resulting in full-bodied wines with a firm tannic structure.
WHY?
Bruno Rocca Barbaresco, the very essence of Italian winemaking, is simply irresistible — with intense dark fruit, generous aromatics, a solid backbone typical of great Italian wines, and an endlessly long finish marked by freshness and spice. Anyone who thinks Barbaresco is a gentler, “feminine” version of Barolo should taste Bruno’s wines. Thanks to low yields and rigorous selection in the vineyard, the wine possesses exceptional concentration and aromatic complexity.
