WHO?
Hécula is one of the wines that comes from the Bodegas Castaño cellar, located in the Yecla subregion in southeastern Spain. For generations, the Castaño family has been producing wines that have become a symbol of the region, standing out for their lavish warmth and high quality. The Las Gruesas and Pozuelo vineyards, situated at an altitude of 750-800 meters above sea level, on poor limestone soil, yield grapes that form the basis of the Hécula wine.
WHERE?
This area is characterized by pronounced continental climate, with extreme temperatures ranging from -10ºC in winter to 42ºC in summer. The vines, averaging 50 years old, grow in bush form, with the native Monastrell grape variety predominating, accounting for 80% of the planted areas.
WHY?
Hécula wine stands out for its concentration, deep color, minerality, and fruity character. Although it appears simple, this wine surprises with its complexity, freshness, and excellent structure. Aromas of raspberry, licorice, and floral notes subtly intertwine with oak notes, leading to a long, balanced finish. With its harmony and juiciness, Hécula offers an outstanding ratio of price to quality, recognized by both experts and wine enthusiasts.
