WHO?
The Škegro Winery started its operations in 1996. Once upon a time, almost every household owned vineyards planted with Žilavka, Blatina, and other indigenous grape varieties. The produced wines were stored in wooden barrels and mostly used for personal consumption. This is how the family story of the Škegro family began, a story in which tradition was passed down from generation to generation until one day it grew into a business that the whole family truly enjoys and participates in. The rocky terrain of Herzegovina produces famous wines that have long been enjoyed for pleasure and refreshment.
WHERE?
The Škegro Winery is located in the Herzegovina region. The vineyards, planted with Žilavka, Blatina, and a few other varieties, are part of the Mostar vineyard region and are located in the immediate vicinity of the cellar in Radišići (Ljubuški). The winery boasts the following wines: Krš White Žilavka, Krš Black Blatina, Krš Rose Blatina, Carsus Blatina, Carsus Žilavka, Krš Orange. The wine production is limited, aiming for top quality products. The annual production includes 8000 liters of wine from the basic Krš line and 4000 liters from the premium Carsus line. The sunny climate, rocky terrain, and healthy ecological base, with centuries-old tradition, produce wines of top quality.
WHY?
Unlike the often delicate Blatina, Trnjak is destined to produce rich and bold wines. Full of red fruit, abundant body, tannin structure that is not too tight, and ideally balanced freshness. Also, there are balsamic notes and more complexity than meets the eye. Decanting the wine is recommended.
