WHO?
Dandelion Vineyards is a unique fusion of vineyards and winemakers. Their wines embody decades of experience in blending perfectly ripened grapes from old vines in the best tradition of artisanal winemaking. Lionheart symbolizes the wine connoisseur and top expert on old vines in Barossa and Fleurieu, Carl Lindner.
WHERE?
The grapes come from old vineyards in Barossa, some of which have vines over 100 years old thriving on their own roots. Throughout their vineyards, they encourage the growth of dandelions between the rows of vines, which suppress winter weeds and serve as ground cover and thermal insulation in summer. Tony Brooks and Prof. Barbara Santich on one side, and the unirrigated Stranger’s Reach vineyard on the other, which is cooled by the currents of the Great Southern Ocean and Lake Alexandrina, combined with minimal rainfall and deep alluvial soil, encourage the Cabernet vines to thrive or vanish.
WHY?
Pride of the Fleurieu Cabernet grew up in a vineyard considered the family pride, next to the Finniss River wetlands. Blueberries, hints of cassis, and dark berry fruit with a spicy frame of cedar, blackberry, and mint dominate the nose. The generous, deep, and lavish palate is characterized by aromas of blackcurrant, dark cherries wrapped in a cloak of sweet spices, mint, cloves, and finely-grained, almost sweet tannins.
