WHO?
Bedalov Winery is a true family winery in every sense of the word. They independently handle all aspects of the work, from tending the vineyards to production and bottling of the wine. The personal involvement in the entire process and the desire for continuous quality is evident in their special approach to each bottle of wine. Viticulture has been a special passion within the family for many years. Winemaker Jakša, along with his family, continues this long-standing passion to reinforce the importance of wine in everyday life and to preserve the land for future generations. Through family care and ecological production, every bottle is made from 100% estate-grown grapes and fully describes the true Dalmatian vineyard.
WHERE?
Bedalov Winery is located in Kaštel Kambelovac, near Split. Situated on the southern slopes of Kozjak, at an altitude of 400 meters and with a slope of 45%, the vineyard in the location of Kambelovski gaj is where the Bedalov family nurtures indigenous Dalmatian grape varieties. This location is ideal for organic grape cultivation due to its southern exposure, excellent ventilation, ideal temperatures, and prolonged sun exposure. The grapes in this ideal position are bathed in sunlight and sea salt carried by the wind. Through organic farming, the vineyard has become a self-regulating natural ecosystem that requires minimal human intervention and no additional inputs.
WHY?
It is of ruby red color with a garnet rim. Like all of Jakša’s wines, this Crljenak is infused with earthy fruitiness, cool maturity, and super-fine, finely-grained tannins. “Honesty” is a term often associated with its expression, and perhaps it is in this wine that its roots are most reflected, giving a hint that it is precisely in these vineyards that its starting point lies from which it embarked on a global journey from Puglia to California. Medicinal herbs, baked Marasca cherries, and notes of black olive tapenade merge in a long and savory-mineral finish.
